45“Who then is the faithful and wise slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give the other slaves their allowance of food at the proper time? 46 Blessed is that slave whom his master will find at work when he arrives. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put that one in charge of all his possessions. 48 But if that wicked slave says to himself, ‘My master is delayed,’ 49 and he begins to beat his fellow slaves, and eats and drinks with drunkards, 50 the master of that slave will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour that he does not know. 51 He will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

There is an urgency to address this work now. We will never fulfill the promise of this university...we will never fulfill the promise of this nation...we will never fulfill the promise of each one of us as long as this legacy remains unreconciled. This is the work we must embrace in this moment.

Time elapsed since the conclusion of Georgetown University's Working Group on Slavery, Memory and Reconciliation:
The Georgetown Secular Society was founded in 2023 to honor the long-term process of atonement that Georgetown University began in 2015 for participating in the U.S. slave trade. Since then, it has become a leading international organization for the worldwide criminal prosecution and ultimate destruction of the Roman Catholic Church and the Society of Jesus. However, we’ll never forget our roots in academia.
Georgetown University’s atonement effort for participating in the U.S. slave trade is a case study of historical revisionism. Georgetown failed to publish a comprehensive account of both the Bible's pro-slavery verses and the Church's involvement in the transatlantic slave trade. For these reasons, we include historical revisionism among the many crimes against humanity committed by the Roman Catholic Church and the Society of Jesus.
